FES Fundraising ltd consists of a collection of people, a movement that started with one driven paraplegic individual responding to his calling that has, and will continue to grow. I, ...WE, have been brought together to raise funds and awareness for F.E.S. technology, hand in hand with  the benefits it can bring to the physically impaired.

How, you ask? How can I help? How does it work?

FES FUNDRAISING ARE ORGANISING EVENTS & ACTIVITIES THROUGHOUT 2012 TO RAISE FUNDS TO GET F.E.S. EQUIPMENT, SO THOSE WHO CAN BENEFIT FROM ITS UNPARALLELED ATTRIBUTES HAVE ACCESS TO THIS EQUIPMENT AND KNOW THE LIGHT AT THE END OF THE TUNNEL IS IN SIGHT!

BUT WE NEED YOUR HELP!!!

FES stands for Functional Electrical Stimulation, which can increase functional muscle use, muscle growth and can provide tremendous physical and mental improvements. The result is a unique new way of helping the physically impaired keep fit, improve the functional use and ability of limbs, and improve both their general health and mobility.

The specific equipment we are focusing on are the FES Leg and Arm Bikes, the leading electrical stimulation cycle, which is available through Cyclone Technologies Ltd.

We realise that there is a need to raise awareness that this equipment exists in the first place, and so through everyone we reach, touch, or work with, we hope you can and will tell a friend to tell a friend.

The FES Fundraising Group aims to help by providing greater access to this technology for the people that need it the most.

As a group, we are organising fundraising events with a view to purchasing at first three Leg/Arm cycles for use in a specialised gym that is accessible by all. Ultimately we aim to provide the general public with access to these units through installations in Gyms, and the one of our own. Currently the main way to make use of this equipment is as an inpatient, to buy one (at over £10,000), or to pay large amounts of money to see a private physiotherapist several times a week.

"FES is a means of producing contractions in muscles, paralysed due to central nervous system lesions,by means of electrical stimulation. Applications are found in stroke, spinal cord injury, head injury, cerebral palsy and multiple sclerosis, to name but a few conditions. The electrical stimulationis applied either by skin surface electrodes or by implanted electrodes. The technology has a number of projects, with groups developing their own techniques or assessing devices produced elsewhere. Some of the developments have progressed from research to clinical service."

Any support is appreciated, we are defined by our support network which does and will continue to span far and wide.
